Decisions for Life

Dear Parents of Eighth Graders,
I wanted to take this time to invite you to an upcoming Parent Meeting on Tuesday, January 26th at 7 p.m. in the Harbor. We would love to see all parents of our eighth graders attend this presentation concerning “Decisions for Life”. This will give you an opportunity to preview what your child will hear on Thursday of the same week. Mrs. Cindy Weigel, a Christ Covenant Church member and CDS parent with experience giving seminars in this area, will lead the presentation. We plan to separate the 8th grade boys and girls for the presentation on February 4-5 from 8:15 a.m. – 10 a.m.
Research shows that students in their teens make important life-impacting decisions. Our goal is to partner with you and to offer guidance to our students as they face serious issues and temptations. The presentations will speak to various interpersonal relationship issues, gender issues, sexual behavior and consequences. Please note that it is NOT our intent to usurp parental privilege. We are asking that one or both parents attend this meeting. **If you desire that your 8th grader NOT attend the presentations on January 28th and 29th, a study hall will be available. Please send us the attached form indicating whether you would prefer your student to attend the presentations or the study hall. All forms may be returned to your child’s homeroom teacher on or before, January 20th. Please include their name on the slip. So that we may prepare for the Parent Presentation evening on Tuesday, January 26, we are requesting that you indicate if one or both parents will be available to attend.
