COLLEGE ADMISSIONS PROCESS FROM AUGUST TO APRIL

Notes from senior mtg on 8-28-09:  HM

The following information was given to all seniors at a lunch meeting that I had with them on August 28th.  They have a hard copy of the information below. Parents, mark your calendar for Thursday, Sept. 24 at 6:30, for the College Information night for juniors and seniors at their parents!-- Thank you, Miss Mills

 

  1. Résumé:  send final copy to Mills; include name & date in the title of your document
  2. Letters of Recommendations & specific school reference forms:  ask early and send thank you's  Make a calendar with all important dates within your process:  THIS IS CRITICAL!
  3. Essays & short answers:  have several proof and edit; be sure your voice is evident
  4. Applications:  have no errors & be sure you tell them who you are within your application
  5. Requests:  send test scores from SAT/ACT; send transcript and recommendation from Mills
  6. Correspond with admission counselors:  be formal; be sure they have received all paperwork; Have an email account with your name for college correspondence; Keep all profiles very clean
  7. Fill out the FAFSA:  finish as soon after January 1 as possible; your parents will need to do most of this.  Be sure you use www.fafsa.ed.gov and NOT .com when filing; To see a preview of what your FAFSA will report, you can use www.FAFSA4Caster.ed.gov
  8. Visit:  you have to go to know; spend the time, sit in on class(es), meet with admission counselor and financial officer if possible
  9. Scholarship pursuit:  colleges first, local second, nationwide third; starting early is smart
  10. PRAY THAT THE LORD WOULD DIRECT YOU TO THE RIGHT COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY AND THAT YOU FILL FIND THE RIGHT “FIT” FOR YOU ACCORDING TO HIS WILL!
