Volunteers Needed for High School Retreat at Windy Gap
Posted June 2010
As many of you are aware the high school will be traveling to Windy Gap the day school starts. For this retreat to flow smoothly the school needs to take around 30 volunteers with us in addition to the contingent of teachers and staff that we already have. These volunteers have the wonderful and exciting job of cooking and serving the food that we eat as well as cleaning the dishes that we use. Sounds like a familiar job, right?
The parent volunteers have a cabin to themselves, men on one floor, women on the other, so that you don't have to stay with the students or have any supervisory responsibilities. For those who have gone in the past, it has always been a great time of fun and fellowship. The dates of the trip are August 18, 19, and 20, that's a Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. We will be home by the time school dismisses on Friday. If you have this time free I would ask that you consider serving our high school students in this fashion. If you would like to volunteer, or if you have any questions, click on the email image .Thanks in advance, we couldn't do this without you. Brian Jameson
Calling Room Mothers for next year 2010/2011
Posted June 2010
Room Mothers enjoy the opportunity of serving our wonderful CDS teachers in many ways. Here is a sample of what we do.
Lower School-
We get to serve with our 3 assistant room mothers who plan and coordinate parties, field trips and recess
We pass along information to your class families either by email or in the home envelope as things come up
We get to honor our teacher by acknowledging her/his birthday
We get to assist our teacher as needed
Middle and High School-
We get to serve as a team with the other room mothers in our grade to plan parties, honor the teachers’ birthdays and pass along information to the class you are responsible for.
Serving as a Room Mother is such a blessing to the teachers but we are so blessed as well! We get to work along side other mothers in our child’s class or grade and it is a great opportunity to get to know the families of the children. We also get to know the teachers who are so appreciative of the help that is given to them. The supporting work of the room mothers enables the teacher more time and freedom to be with our children. We serve our Lord by serving our children.
The work of Room Mother is not difficult or time consuming; it is truly a privilege.
Please consider serving in this way! We really need you!!!
